Berrigan, who was three years through a four-year deal with the Airlie Birds, was given permission to return to the NRL to be closer to his family following the death of his father last year.
The 32-year-old hooker, who won the club's player of the year award in his debut campaign in 2008, is expected to sign for either the Gold Coast Titans or the New Zealand Warriors.
Berrigan made 74 appearances since his arrival at the KC Stadium from Brisbane, including playing in a Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.
However he has struggled for form since that game two years ago and has often been forced to play out of position to cover for injuries
