Briers extends Wales career

The veteran Warrington stand-off came out of international retirement this year to be a part of the Wales side that claimed the European Cup and with it a place in next autumn's competition.

The 32-year-old intended to hang up his boots again after the decisive 12-11 win over France in Albi but could not resist a return to the big stage next year.

Briers will now have the chance to test himself against England, Australia and New Zealand in the Four Nations tournament.

"Winning the European Cup was awesome," said Briers, who initially retired after Wales failed to reach the 2008 World Cup.
