Morrison to skipper Wildcats

Morrison, 34, joined the Wildcats from Bradford in 2010 and enjoyed an impressive first campaign at Belle Vue.

He will take over the captaincy from Jason Demetriou who left the club after not being offered a new deal at the end of last season.

"After much consideration the coaching staff decided to offer Glenn the captaincy as reward for a magnificent season in 2010 but also because of the impact that he has on the club off the field," explained Wakefield coach John Kear.

Morrison, who held the position of vice-captain at Bradford, arrived at Belle Vue on an initial 12-month contract but recently signed a new deal for 2011.

"I was delighted when John offered me the captaincy role," he stated. "It is an honour to captain such a great, traditional team and I feel very proud that I have been chosen.

"Along with all the other players and staff at the club, I will strive to work as hard as I can with our franchise license and I really look forward to leading my team to success in 2011."
